룩셈부르크, 유럽의 디지털 경제 국가
룩셈부르크가 최근 유럽연합의 디지털 경제사회 지수(Digital Economy and Society Index, DESI) 평가에서 5위에 올랐다.
디지털 경제사회 지수란 유럽의 디지털 실적과 EU 회원국의 디지털 정책 결과와 방향성을 평가하기 위한 30여 개의 지표로 구성된 통합 지수다. 디지털 경제사회 지수는 연결성, 인적 자원, 인터넷 활용, 디지털 기술의 비즈니스 접목, 디지털 공공 서비스 등 다섯 가지의 주요 카테고리로 이루어진다.
평가에 따르면 룩셈부르크는 연결성, 인적 자원, 인터넷 활용 부분에서 각각 높은 점수를 기록했다. 작년과 비교했을 때 룩셈부르크의 디지털 경제사회 지수는 동일 순위를 유지했으나, 종합 점수는 높아졌다.
룩셈부르크는 인터넷 활용과 디지털 기술 부문에서 높은 점수를 기록했다(5위). 또한 인터넷 사용률 부분에서는 4위를 기록했다. 룩셈부르크는 디지털 경제 국가로서 적극적인 경제 다변화 전략을 실시하고 있다.
Luxembourg ranks 5th out of the 28 EU Member States in the 2018 edition of the European
Commission’s Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI). Overall it has maintained its rank and improved its score slightly since last year. The country is thus firmly placed among the top digital economies in Europe.
DESI is a composite index that summarises relevant indicators on Europe’s digital performance and tracks the evolution of EU Member States in digital competitiveness. The DESI report tracks the progress made by Member States in terms of their digitization. It is structured around five chapters: Connectivity, Human Capital, Use of Internet Services, Integration of Digital Technology and Digital Public Services.
Top ranks: connectivity, human capital, internet use
Luxembourg performs well in connectivity (2nd rank in DESI 2018), both for coverage and subscription (take-up). It records very good results (5th rank in DESI 2018) for human capital, especially in use or in digital skills where it is a top performer. It achieves very good results for internet use by its residents (4th rank in DESI 2018).
Ambitious strategy
Luxembourg has undertaken an ambitious economic diversification strategy for the digital sector. This strategy is multidimensional and collaborative, embracing skills, infrastructure, the digital ecosystem and public services. The strategy is grouped under an umbrella initiative called Digital Luxembourg.
